Red Movilidad enters the top 10 brands with a positive impact

- According to the B-Brands study, the system was also positioned at the top of the People subcategories, with sixth place, and Prosperity, in tenth place.
- Currently, Santiago’s public transport has 2,555 electric buses and more than 1,800 women drivers, consolidating Chile as a pioneering country in environmental care and gender equality.
Tuesday, May 27, 2025.- Santiago’s public transport, RED Movilidad, was highlighted in the Top 10 of the B-Brands 2025 brand study, which for the first time included the mobility industry, considering its contribution to people, the environment and the economy.
This is the result of a permanent process of modernization that the system has been developing. A reflection of this are its current 2,555 electric buses and a score of 5.5 in the latest Satisfaction Study of Operating Companies, the highest since this survey was carried out.
In this regard, the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Juan Carlos Muñoz, pointed out that “As a Government we have people and their quality of life at the center of our management. The entire transformation of RED aims precisely to deliver a better travel experience to the millions of users who use the service every day, and we achieve this with more comfortable and less polluting buses, with greater coverage, more safety, more technology and better infrastructure. Results such as those of this study confirm that people perceive and value this effort and, deep down, it means that we are on the right track.”
While the director of Metropolitan Public Transport (DTPM), Paola Tapia, added that “the recognition that Red Movilidad has been gaining as a public brand responds to a series of strategic actions. On the one hand, we are making progress in electromobility, with the largest fleet outside China today and which will continue to grow this year. We have also given public transport a woman’s face, already exceeding 1,800 female drivers who deliver trips with more empathy to the user, who improve the work environment within companies and who mean decent jobs for them.”
Along the same lines, during 2025 the system will be incorporating another 1,800 new electric buses, reaching a 68% “zero emissions” fleet.
The advancement of electromobility in the RED system has been a positive contribution to Santiago. According to the DTPM’s First Electromobility Report, this type of bus is responsible for only 3.3% of the emissions generated by transport, while most come from private vehicles.
In fact, during the last few years, local emissions of particulate matter in the city have been reduced by 80%, while noise on avenues such as Alameda and Santa Rosa have decreased by more than 40%, which coincides with the incorporation of electric buses in the capital, as of 2017.
In addition, the new road concession contracts establish a minimum quota of 18% for female workers, which consolidates Chile as the country with the highest percentage of professional female drivers in urban public transport.
