New C30e and 421c services to decongest Tobalaba register more than 100 thousand passengers in their first three months

New C30e and 421c services to decongest Tobalaba register more than 100 thousand passengers in their first three months
  • In February, the operation of the C30e service began, from Metro Los Leones to Los Trapenses. 38% of its users come from the C10e route.
  • This Monday, in addition, the C26c service began operating, a new alternative to travel from Metro Tobalaba to Ciudad Empresarial.

Thursday, June 5, 2025.- In just three months, more than 100,000 passengers have been mobilized on the new C30e and 421c services of Red Movilidad, which offer a travel alternative to reach the eastern sector of Santiago.

These are two bus routes implemented in February of this year, in order to reduce the crowds of users that occur on public transport during rush hour, as occurs at stops near Metro Tobalaba.

“We can confirm with great satisfaction that the C30e and 421c services have registered very good results in their first months of operation, allowing us to reduce crowds and queues at the bus stops. Both routes have transported more than 105 thousand passengers, mostly women, who use them mainly for work reasons. This is a clear example of how Red Movilidad manages to adapt to the needs of users, a system that is highly valued by people and that is once again a source of pride, since between February and April it became the most used means of transport in Greater Santiago with 164 million people mobilized”, explained the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Juan Carlos Muñoz.

In detail, during its first quarter of operation -February to April 2025-, these new routes registered a total of 105 thousand passengers, with April being the peak month, with 44,231 transactions.

Paola Tapia, director of Metropolitan Public Transport (DTPM), added that “from Red Movilidad we are permanently monitoring the operation of services and looking for the best solutions for users, always taking care of the financial balance. In this context, this Monday the C26c service began operating, a new offer for people going from Metro Tobalaba to Ciudad Empresarial. In the last 3 years alone, we have created 41 new services and 43 extensions, the product of permanent and collaborative monitoring work to increase coverage, but without increasing the costs of the system.”

Studies commissioned by the DTPM reveal that more than 95% of the people who take the bus in Tobalaba to the east travel for work reasons. In other parts of the city the average was 71%. In addition, 65% of the total are women and 33% of C10e users work as domestic workers.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Providencia, Jaime Bellolio, said that “38% of the people who occupy these routes used another one that departed from Tobalaba, that is, it worked very well in unblocking that stop and also added another 62% of new passengers who occupied another combination. 2.5 million people pass through Providencia every day, so for us mobility is essential. The neighbors value being able to walk, safe and that different models of transport such as bicycle lanes coexist. And the floating population, that is, people who come to work, to do their paperwork or to study, also value very much being able to reach public transport and access services that are within the commune.”

The C30e service connects Avenida Providencia -from Metro Los Leones- with Camino Los Trapenses, in the commune of Lo Barnechea, complementing the existing C10e. It operates from Monday to Friday between 05:30 and 10:15 in the morning, and from 15:30 to 20:45 in the afternoon. In its first three months it registered

At the same time, route 421c, which supports the original 421, connects the Los Dominicos station on Line 1 of the Metro, with San Carlos de Apoquindo, and like the previous one, it operates only during rush hour.

They were joined from this Monday, June 2, the C26c route that connects the Tobalaba Metro with Ciudad Empresarial, benefiting about 8 thousand people a week. This new service increases the offer already delivered by the 117, 117c, 429c and C06. It transits through Holland and will stop at Stop 1 / Metro Tobalaba (PC155), operating from Monday to Friday between 06:30 and 09:10 and between 17:30 and 20:15 hours.
