The Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Gloria Hutt, together with the Metropolitan Intendent, Felipe Guevara, the President of Metro, Louis de Grange, the Director of Metropolitan Public Transport, Fernando Saka, and the Seremi de Transportes, Eddy Roldán, visited the final works of the new intermodal station of Los Libertadores, infrastructure that will mainly benefit the areas of Quilicura, Conchalí, Colina, Tiltil, Lampa and Huechuraba.

“Our efforts to improve public transport continue to materialize with concrete samples of the new standard, which improves people’s quality of life. This new station will allow to integrate surface buses with subway Line 3, facilitating the connection for users of the communes of the northern area of the Metropolitan Region”, Minister Gloria Hutt stressed.

The Secretary of State added that 50% of passengers arrive at Los Libertadores station on subway Line 3 through public transport surface services. “That is why it is important to advance intermodality, in order to facilitate the connection of passengers between the different modes of transport. Currently 21 routes of the system reach the vicinity of this terminal, of which 11 will have access to the enclosure,” he said.

For his part, Metro President Louis de Grange stressed that “Subway is the main protagonist of Santiago’s integrated transport. The start-up of this new intermodal is a very important step, since half of the passengers who arrive at Los Libertadores station do so through The Bus Services of Red. This is a work that will facilitate the transfers of thousands of people, since it has a total area of 2.8 hectares, in which we have been concerned with offering our passengers a modern design, with spacious and comfortable facilities”.

The director of metropolitan public transport, Fernando Saka, stressed that the station allows to unify the different transport services, grouped in the RED system. “With the start of operation of the Intermodal Los Libertadores a new B32 service is created in order to connect the neighbors of Valle Lo Campino with the center of Quilicura; B18e service is shortened so that it can reach the EIM, where it will regulate; while services B07, B08, B12c, 307c, 308c, 315c, 314c and 428e cease to circumfer and now enter the EIM. In addition, the B04 and B26 routes extend their route to the Intermodal station. It is important that users are no informed on official channels.”

The start-up of the terminal will be in stages: this Saturday, November 28, services in the urban area will start, while during the first quarter of 2021 rural and intercity bus services will be incorporated, which will provide coverage mainly to areas of the northern area of Santiago.
