Red launches clown contest and will award free trips to 60 people
  • Within the framework of the National Holidays, the activity seeks to get people to participate by writing a beach that promotes the use of public transport, payment and good practices, and upload it to the Red Movilidad account.
  • The initiative promoted by the Metropolitan Public Transport Board is sponsored by the cargo operating companies Movired and Globe, together with MetroMuv, Mercado Pago, Pago Ya and BancoEstado.

Santiago, August 27, 2025.- In the run-up to Fiestas Patrias, Red Movilidad launched its first eighteenth-century clown contest, with which it will reward 60 people through free trips on Santiago’s public transport until the end of 2025.

This is an initiative carried out by the Metropolitan Public Transport Directorate (DTPM) of the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications, in conjunction with the companies Movired and Globe, Mercado Pago, MetroMuv, Pago Ya and Banco Estado, whose objective is to promote the use of buses and trains of the Santiago Metro and EFE, especially in the end-of-year celebrations.

The Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Juan Carlos Muñoz, said that “the National Holidays are a moment of joy and happiness, and it is very important to celebrate them responsibly. That is why the Red Movilidad system launches its first eighteenth-century contest, which will allow 60 people to achieve free trips for four months on RED, Metro and Tren Nos – Central Station buses, so that they can also take advantage of it in the remaining holidays of the year. You just have to participate with clowns.”

Meanwhile, the DTPM director, Paola Tapia Salas, indicated that this public-private initiative is on the path to continue encouraging the valuation of public transport. “So far in 2025, more than 400 million validations have been registered on RED buses, and we will continue working so that people prefer to use public transport, pay their fare, especially in these holidays where we celebrate and share with our loved ones,” said the authority.

The contest will run from August 27 to September 8, a period in which those who wish to participate can do so by sending a written message in the prominent post on the Red Movilidad Instagram account.

Among the requirements are to include the word “payment” on the paya, not exceed 300 characters, and follow the accounts mentioned in the publication. Those who meet the requirements will be pre-selected and their works will go through the review of a jury, which will determine the winners who will be announced on Red Movilidad’s social networks.

María Dolores Peralta, Banca Personas BancoEstado, indicated that “at BancoEstado and through the Red Movilidad application we have more than 1 million 200 thousand users both in the bank’s application and in RutPay, so we are happy to be able to invite everyone to put humor, creativity and share through social networks, its best transport paya”.

This initiative is part of the measures that the DTPM has carried out during the current administration to encourage the use of public transport and the payment of the fare. In the same vein, this week the second version of its campaign “Pay your fare, respect and let’s be friendlier on public transport” was launched, which highlights the positive actions that users want to reinforce.
